Values in Europe: Understanding and defending human rights
What unites us as Europeans? Even beyond the borders of the European Union, it is the commitment to the European Convention on Human Rights and, consequently, to the Council of Europe that brings the peoples of Europe closer together. In this activity, participants are made aware of human rights and discover the importance of defending these rights, which are often taken for granted.
To achieve this, they are first invited to create their own catalog of values in groups, highlighting what they find most important to them.
Next, the educational film “The Council of Europe and Me” (produced by the CERS) concretely presents the work of this institution that defends human rights in Europe. A concluding discussion invites the group to reflect on ways to act at their own level and to engage in building the Europe they want to live in.
Objectives: To discover the importance of human rights and understand the commitment of the Council of Europe and individuals in defending them.
Audience: From 14 years old
Duration: 1h30
Price: €75 per group of up to 30 students
