The third seminar of the RETOUR project brought us to the island of Crete in September 2022!
In Heraklion and Chania, the Cretan team introduced participants to the colonial history of the island and the difficulties encountered by local and allied forces during the Battle of Crete during the Second World War. They also raised awareness of the rich cultural heritage of this destination.
The RETOUR project is supported by six partners from six European countries. Each institution organizes a seminar in its region and welcomes the other participants to help them discover a theme linked to ‘their’ local history and to put the memorial policies of each country into perspective. CERS will organize its seminar in June 2023 in Metz and Scy-Chazelles. Moreover, it also sends interested participants to seminars abroad to allow them to enrich their knowledge on the different themes proposed such as Nazism, anti-communist movements , political prisoners and labour camps, colonialism and post-colonialism, etc.
