"United in Biodiversity" - this was the official motto of the 2024 edition of the "Eurocitoyen.nes en action" exchange project. For a week, 30 Franco-German youths gathered in a community space in Metz and were sensitized to environmental themes, biodiversity, and sustainable development. Through various activities, they got to know each other, exchanged ideas about the challenges of climate change, and outlined solutions at different levels, from local to European.
At the heart of this project aimed at giving a voice to young citizens was the production of a short Franco-German animated film created using tools derived from artificial intelligence.
Divided into four groups, the participants expressed their visions of a hypothetical future in 2050, the target date for achieving carbon neutrality at the European level. Fictional characters created by AI thus show, through four chapters, the evolution of 'their' world up to this future date. The film, the highlight of this week-long bi-national project, was presented to an audience of officials, followed by a rich exchange with the audience.

The project "Eurocitoyen.nes en action" is organized by the European Centre Robert Schuman (Scy-Chazelles) and the European Academy of Otzenhausen (Europäische Akademie Otzenhausen). It receives financial support from the Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ). This recurring exchange brings together two 10th-grade classes from Marc Bloch High School in Bischheim, Alsace, and the Geschwister Scholl Gymnasium in Ludwigshafen-am-Rhein for over ten years. For each edition, a new theme is highlighted by the Franco-German animation teams, always with the idea of making the participants active during the encounter. The 2024 edition took place between February 19 and February 23, 2024, in Metz.
