European Tales and Legends – A Look Back at Our Visit to Alfred Mézières Upper Secondary School in Longwy
At the end of 2025, CERS took part in activities at Alfred Mézières Upper Secondary School (LPO) in Longwy as part of an Interlanguage project focusing on European fairy tales. This interdisciplinary project is coordinated by CERS together with the school’s teachers and language assistants in German, English, Spanish and Italian.
Over the coming months, students will work in small groups. They will select various European fairy tales and stage them in spring 2026.
Programme of the first session in December:
Euromind European Quiz A fun activity that allowed students to discover the richness and diversity of Europe while testing their knowledge.
German storytelling workshop: The Town Musicians of Bremen The fairy tale The Town Musicians of Bremen was presented in both French and German. Students then reflected on the message of the story and its relevance today. They related the tale to situations from their own lives involving difficulties, discrimination and inequality, but also solidarity, cooperation and diversity as a source of strength. They then reimagined the fairy tale in order to convey these values through stories that speak to people today.
This is only the beginning: we will return to the school on 12 February for a second session as part of this project.
We would like to thank the students and the teaching staff for their participation and enthusiasm.
