Values in Europe: Understanding and defending human rights

In this workshop, participants are introduced to human rights and encouraged to understand the importance of defending them, even when they may seem taken for granted.

Transported to a fictional desert island, they are divided into small groups and gradually tasked with establishing the rules that will govern their island. As they build this imaginary society, they learn about the Council of Europe and its role in protecting human rights across the continent. The workshop concludes with a symbolic vote, inviting each group to reflect on and commit to building the kind of society in which they would like to live.

Objectives:

• Reflect on the conditions necessary for living together in society.
• Understand the role and commitment of the Council of Europe.
• Discover the importance of human rights.
