On 22 and 27 May 2026, the Centre européen Robert Schuman (CERS) and the Robert Schuman House in Scy-Chazelles welcomed middle and high school students from the Greater Region for two cross-border days. Dedicated to discovery, dialogue and cooperation, these events offered participants a unique intercultural experience in one of the symbolic places of European integration.
Organised by the Centre européen Robert Schuman (CERS), in partnership with the Rhineland-Palatinate Pedagogical Institute and the Regional Academic Authority of Grand Est – Nancy-Metz Academy, with the support of the Interreg Engagement'GR programme, these two cross-border days aimed to raise young people's awareness of European citizenship while strengthening ties between students from both sides of the border.
Throughout the programme, participants took part in a range of fun and interactive workshops designed to encourage intercultural dialogue and cooperation. Through educational activities, collaborative games and discussion sessions, they explored the key milestones of European integration, the legacy of Robert Schuman and the fundamental values on which the European Union is built.
The students also visited the Robert Schuman House, gaining a deeper understanding of the legacy of one of the founding fathers of Europe. This visit to an important site of European memory provided an ideal setting to reflect on today's European challenges and the importance of cross-border cooperation.
These cross-border days offered a valuable opportunity for French and German students to meet, exchange ideas and strengthen their commitment to European citizenship while fostering mutual understanding within the Greater Region.
